Emergency services were called to a house fire in Bilston on Monday afternoon (August 17), where a woman and two children were taken to hospital. The trio were assessed for the effects of smoke inhalation after the blaze broke out in an upstairs bedroom of a two-storey house on Greenway Road.

Fire Spread and Response

West Midlands Fire Service was alerted at 3.40pm and said the occupants had left the house before firefighters arrived. The fire, which started in a first-floor bedroom, also spread to the landing, a bathroom, and another bedroom.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Fire Service said: "This was a fire in the first-floor bedroom of two-storey house. It had also spread to the landing area, bathroom, and rear bedroom of the property. There was significant fire and smoke damage throughout the entire first floor."

Medical Assessment and Hospitalisation

Crews carried out a full search of the property to ensure there were no remaining hotspots, before leaving at around 6pm. Meanwhile, West Midlands Ambulance Service was called at 3.45pm and dispatched two ambulances to the scene.

An ambulance service spokesperson said: "We were called at 3.45pm on Monday to a fire at a property on Greenway Road, Bilston. Two ambulances attended the scene. Upon arrival we found three patients, a woman and two children who were assessed for the effects of smoke inhalation and conveyed to New Cross Hospital for further assessment."
