Clifton Medical Centre in Stone Cross, West Bromwich has been named one of the worst GP surgeries in England based on patient feedback from the 2026 GP Patient Survey. Fewer than four in 10 patients (39%) rated the practice as either good or very good, placing it among the bottom eight surgeries nationwide.

The national survey asked patients to rate their overall experience as very good, good, poor, or very poor. Only seven other practices in England scored lower than Clifton Medical Centre. Among them was Naseby Medical Centre in Saltley, Birmingham.
Other poor-scoring surgeries in the region included Hall Green Health (43%), Swanpool Medical Centre in Tipton (44%), and Regis Medical Centre in Rowley Regis (46%).
Areas of assessment
Patients were quizzed on a range of areas, including the performance of GPs, quality of care, ease of contacting the practice by phone or online, and the ability to book an appointment. The total number of respondents for each practice was not disclosed, which may affect the reliability of the ratings in some cases.
CQC inspection result
Despite the poor patient survey results, Clifton Medical Centre received an overall rating of 'good' from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) during its most recent inspection in October 2025. The health watchdog raised no major concerns at that time.
