Detectives have issued images of five men they want to track down in connection with a fatal shooting in Birmingham. Mohammed Kasim, known as Kasim, had just turned 30 when he was shot inside a car on Eversley Road in Small Heath just after midnight on July 7, 2022. He died in hospital from his injuries. Mr Kasim's friend, who was also shot during the incident, survived.
Police Appeal for Information
Four years on, West Midlands Police today, Tuesday, July 7, named five men it wants to find as part of the investigation. It said: "We have been investigating since it happened, carrying out a range of complex enquiries. Today, we're appealing for help in finding five men who we would like to speak to as part of that investigation: Mahir Omar, 26, Musdaf Ahmed, 28, Mohammed Diriye, 26, Muscab Ibrahim, 26, Mahamad Ibrahim, 27. All five are known to have links to Birmingham."
Senior Investigator's Statement
Senior Investigating Officer Det Insp Nigel Box said: "This is very much an active investigation and we're still asking anyone who may have any information at all to get in touch with us. No matter how small it may seem, and regardless of the time passed, it could be vital. Likewise, if anyone can help us locate any of these five men, they should speak to us, or the independent charity Crimestoppers. Our thoughts remain with Kasim's family. We're supporting them and keeping up to date and we remain focussed on doing all we can to bring Kasim's killer to justice."
Family Tribute
Kasim's family previously said in a joint statement: "Kasim had a big heart. He was full of love. His smile was so contagious. He lit up any room he went into. No parent should have to bury their child."
