Birmingham's Mobile Tip Lorries Return for 2026: First Week Schedule
Birmingham Mobile Tip Lorry Dates and Locations for 2026

Birmingham residents can once again make use of the city's popular mobile waste disposal service, with the council announcing the first week of locations and dates for 2026. The Mobile Household Waste Centres, which allow householders to drop off bags of rubbish free of charge, are set to tour various neighbourhoods.

Weekly Schedule and How the Service Works

The council's mobile tip lorries will be stationed at a different location each day. They operate from 7:30 am until 12:30 pm, Monday to Friday, and from 8:00 am until noon on weekends. Residents can bring bags of general household rubbish, including garden waste, for crews to dispose of at no cost.

The confirmed schedule for the first full week of January 2026 is as follows:

  • Monday 5 January: Castle Vale Swimming Pool (B35 7EH) & Handsworth Park (B20 2BY)
  • Tuesday 6 January: Woodgate Valley, Bartley Green (B32 3DS)
  • Wednesday 7 January: Osler Street, North Edgbaston (B16 9EU)
  • Thursday 8 January: Gressel Lane, Glebe Farm/Tile Cross (B33 9UU)
  • Friday 9 January: Highfield Hall, Hall Green (B28 0HS)
  • Saturday 10 January: Highfield Lane Rec Ground, Quinton (B32 1QS)
  • Sunday 11 January: Daisy Farm Park, Highters Heath (B14 4PD)

Ongoing Strike Action and Alternative Disposal Options

The return of the mobile service comes against a backdrop of continued industrial action affecting regular waste collections in parts of the city. A dispute between Birmingham City Council and the Unite union over the removal of the Waste Recycling and Collection Officer role began a year ago and remains unresolved as the new year starts, leading to ongoing issues with rubbish accumulation at known problem spots.

For residents needing to dispose of waste outside the mobile service's hours, all of Birmingham's fixed Household Recycling Centres are open seven days a week. These sites are currently operating with extended hours, a measure that will remain in place until 31 January 2026.

A Vital Service for Community Cleanliness

The mobile tip lorry initiative provides a crucial frontline service, especially for those without easy access to transport or during periods of disrupted regular collections. By bringing disposal points directly into communities, the council aims to help residents manage their waste responsibly and combat fly-tipping. Residents are encouraged to check the council's official channels for subsequent weekly schedules beyond 11 January.
