Police were called to the junction of High Street and Berry Maud Lane in Solihull at around 5:15 am on July 17 following concerns for a person's welfare. Upon arrival, officers tragically confirmed the death of a man at the scene, near a canal.
Investigation Underway
West Midlands Police stated that the death is not being treated as suspicious at this stage. A file is being prepared for the coroner to determine the cause of death.
Local residents expressed shock and condolences online. Serene Celery wrote on Facebook: "I pray that god can free their soul and also make things easier for their loved ones. Terrible news." Tracy Jones described the incident as "heartbreaking," while another resident said: "I can't imagine how horrible and shocking it must be for the victim's family."

A police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to the junction of High Street and Berry Maud Lane, Solihull, at around 5.15am yesterday following concern for a person's welfare. Sadly, a man was confirmed dead at the scene. At this stage, his death is not being treated as suspicious. A file will be prepared for the coroner."
