The Department for Work and Pensions has confirmed that people receiving Personal Independence Payment (PIP) will have two specific expenses reimbursed if they attend upcoming workshops. However, claimants must act by a Friday deadline, the DWP has said.
Workshops and Expenses Reimbursement
In September and October, the DWP is running workshops dedicated to trialling recommendations from the Timms Review. PIP claimants are encouraged to sign up now and take part. The DWP has confirmed that claimants attending will have "reasonable travel costs" and "other necessary expenses (for example, costs of a personal assistant)" reimbursed, in a double boost for disabled claimants wishing to participate and help shape the Timms Review into PIP.
How to Apply and Deadline
The DWP states: "To help the Timms Review we are having some workshops. We want to talk to people about some ideas to make the PIP benefit better. Some of the workshops are face to face." It adds: "And some of them are online. You must live in the area where the workshop is. So, if you live in Yorkshire you would go to the workshop in Sheffield."
Claimants can only attend one workshop. The DWP says: "You can only come to 1 workshop. In this form we ask some questions about you. This is so we make sure we hear from lots of different people. You do not have to answer all of the questions if you do not want to."
The deadline to return the form is 5pm on Friday 21st August. The DWP advises: "You must send us this form back by 5pm on Friday 21st August. You can put your answers on this form using a computer. Click on a small box you want to choose. It will tick the box for you." It continues: "Or click in a bigger box and type your answer. When you have finished, save this form on your computer."
Claimants should then email the form back to: timmsreview.shapingrecommendations@dwp.gov.uk. Alternatively, they can fill in a paper copy. The DWP says: "When you have finished take a picture of each page. Then you can email us the pictures of your form."
