Tesco has confirmed that its Clubcard Challenges are back, giving selected loyal customers the chance to boost their points balance through their regular weekly shopping. The challenges run from August 3 to September 13, and participants can earn up to 5,000 Clubcard points – worth £50 – if they complete all ten tasks.
How the challenges work
Clubcard members who are selected for the promotion will be able to set spending goals and complete personalised challenges designed to help them earn extra points. Each participant can choose ten shopping challenges, which involve purchasing specific products either in-store or online. Those chosen will receive a notification or see a banner in the Tesco app inviting them to take part.
The initiative has generated a mixed response on social media, with some shoppers expressing disappointment at not being selected. One Facebook user commented: “I miss mine so much. Got loads from them last year but stopped getting them beginning of this year.” Another added: “I’ve only had 1 in the last year which was the last 1 and havent got selected this time. Would love to know how they pick.”
Rewards and redemption
Customers who hit their targets will be rewarded with extra points, and those who complete all ten challenges will earn up to 5,000 Clubcard points, equivalent to £50. These points can be exchanged for vouchers to spend at Tesco, or their value can be doubled when used with one of Tesco's more than 100 rewards partners.
However, not all feedback has been positive. One shopper remarked: “Not the best this time £45 on fruit. If only we could afford this much on fruit.”
Fuel discount offer
In a separate promotion, Tesco is offering drivers 5% off fuel when they spend £60 in-store. Customers receive a coupon for 5% off diesel and unleaded petrol with a single in-store transaction of £60 before Sunday 16th August. The coupon, currently worth up to 8p per litre, is redeemable at Tesco-branded forecourts across the UK until Sunday 23rd August.
