An applicant has brought forward plans for nearly 200 homes in a Solihull village. If the homes are given permission to be built in Tidbury Green, it would represent a significant increase from the village's current population of around 1,000.
Bloor Homes applied on April 20 to Solihull Council for outline permission for the homes off Tilehouse Lane. A planning statement from the agents says: 'The site is located to the north of Dickens Heath Road. The site is immediately adjacent to the settlement boundary for Tidbury Green which contains a number of services including a primary school and village hall. The site comprises 14.80 hectares (36.57 acres) of agricultural land.'
The agents say a 'framework masterplan' has been prepared for the application for illustrative purposes, although this has not been submitted for formal approval at this stage. The plan includes up to 190 dwellings – 95 affordable homes; new access from Tilehouse Lane; new pedestrian and cycle routes around the site; children's play areas, a community orchard and allotments.
'Significant benefits will be delivered by the proposed development which supports a case for grey belt (green belt suitable for housing) development on this site,' the agents add.
Villagers and other interested parties are being given the chance to have their say on the plans during a consultation period which has now launched. To view the plans and submit a comment, search for application PL/2026/00759/PPOL at https://publicaccess.solihull.gov.uk/online-applications.
