Solihull's Honey Club Secures Licence Renewal Without Objections
Solihull lapdancing club licence renewed

The Honey Club, a lapdancing venue on Solihull's High Street, has successfully secured the renewal of its operating licence after a council hearing raised no objections.

Uncontested Application Leads to Renewal

Solihull Council's licensing committee agreed to renew the sexual entertainment venue (SEV) licence for The Honey Club during a meeting held on November 27. The application, which was first submitted in September, proceeded smoothly as no formal objections were lodged against it. Notably, West Midlands Police also did not raise any concerns regarding the renewal.

The committee convened at the Civic Suite and, following the hearing, granted the renewal subject to standard conditions. The approved operating hours permit the club to open from 10am until 6am every day of the year, with the sole exception of Christmas Day.

Management and Safety Provisions Outlined

In its application, the club described itself as a "family concern with a hands on management style." The document emphasised the experience of the director and manager, both of whom have a background in managing similar premises.

A strong focus was placed on security and welfare measures within the application. The club stated it employs a number of security staff positioned both at the entrance and inside the venue. Comprehensive CCTV coverage monitors all appropriate areas, and panic buttons are installed in every private dance facility.

The welfare of performers was also highlighted, with the management taking responsibility for their general wellbeing. Performers have access to a private and secure changing area. The club's standard door policy restricts entry to those aged 21 and over, though it notes that "occasionally" those aged 18 and above may be permitted.

A Decade-Long Fixture on the High Street

The Honey Club has been a part of Solihull's nightlife since 2009, when it opened following a £100,000 refurbishment of the former Opal Lounge. Over the years, it has become an established feature on the High Street and is even listed as part of the Solihull Business Improvement District (BID).

The application also pointed out that it is not possible for the public to see inside the premises from street level, a detail often considered in such licensing decisions. With the licence now formally renewed, the venue can continue its operations under the agreed conditions.
