Coronation Street has delivered yet another twist in the ongoing mystery surrounding the murder of Theo Silverton. The builder, played by James Cartwright, was killed last month on the day of Carla Connor and DS Lisa Swain's wedding.
Summer Spellman's Alibi
Lisa's daughter Betsy Swain discovered Theo's lifeless body, and an investigation into his death has been unfolding over several weeks, with a number of Weatherfield residents emerging as potential suspects. In recent scenes of the ITV soap, Summer Spellman was brought in to the police station to answer questions about her whereabouts on the night in question.
During Friday's episode, now available to stream on ITVX, Summer recalled that Tyrone Dobbs could corroborate her alibi that Theo was still alive when she departed his flat on the night of his murder.
Tyrone's Suspicious Behavior
DS Swain visited Tyrone and Fiz Dobbs to establish whether he could verify Summer's account of events, but having explained that he was a guest at her wedding, a shifty Tyrone told the detective: "Summer must have seen someone else." Later in the episode, Fiz challenged Tyrone over his suspicious behaviour and questioned whether he was being truthful, but the mechanic insisted: "There's nothing to tell and I wouldn't lie about something like that."
However, a flashback clip later played revealing that Tyrone did see Summer walking away from Theo's flat with the latter standing in his flat window still alive and well, but why didn't he share this information with DS Swain?
Fan Theories
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan speculated: "I wonder if Tyrone had something to do with dropping the car on Carl." Another added: "I reckon it is because he was the one who dropped the car on Carl." A third person said: "Maybe Tyrone was the one that dropped the car on Carl that night." Someone else agreed: "Tyrone is lying. Collaborating Summer's story would mean implicating himself in the attack on Carl."
A fifth wrote: "If Tyrone doesn't come forward and lets Summer go to prison, I'll be very disappointed in him. He can always lie about dropping the car on Carl and Carl didn't press charges."
Carl Webster's Attack
On the same night of Theo's murder, Carl Webster had been in Kevin Webster's garage, where Tyrone works, and while heavily intoxicated, he decided to target his brother by interfering with a car that was being worked on. As he loosened some of the screws or parts of either the vehicle itself, an unidentified figure walked towards the car before causing it to crash down on top of Carl's body. Viewers will recall that Carl mowed down Tyrone in a hit-and-run incident last year, which left him temporarily paralysed and caused significant long-term mobility problems. Could Tyrone have launched an attack on Carl in the garage and is now concealing the truth to protect himself?
Coronation Street airs weeknights on ITV1 at 8.30pm and available to stream from 7am on ITVX.
