A murder suspect has been arrested in the West Midlands following the death of a man found on a rooftop in Bristol. Anthony Clemmings, 54, known as Tony, was discovered in a rooftop garden on Redcliff Street on Tuesday, May 5.
Nigel Lubban, 50, of no fixed address, was arrested in the West Midlands on Friday, May 8, and has now been charged with murder. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Bristol Magistrates’ Court on Monday, May 11.
Police confirm charge
Detective Chief Inspector Laura Miller confirmed the charge: “The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised a murder charge against Nigel Lubban. Specially trained officers are supporting the family, who have been informed of this significant development.”
She added: “This is an incredibly upsetting time for the family and our thoughts remain with them. They continue to ask for privacy, and we would therefore ask people to be respectful of those wishes.”
Family tribute
Tony’s family paid tribute to him, describing him as a “much-loved son, brother and uncle”. They said: “His death has come as a huge shock to us.”
Police and forensic teams were seen at the scene on Redcliff Street on Wednesday, May 6, after a member of the public found the body. The investigation continues.
