HiTZ Cricket has opened a new indoor training facility in Dudley, allowing players to practise against automated bowling machines and review their performance using video technology. The venue, located at Stumps Indoor Sports Centre, officially opened on Thursday, October 29, with local cricketers attending taster sessions.
Advanced Training Technology
The facility uses BatFast technology, combining automated bowling, ball tracking, and instant video replays to help players improve their batting. Dudley is the first HiTZ venue to feature the new B3 bowling machine, which delivers a harder ball for a more realistic training experience.
Players can select from more than one million deliveries, including spin, seam, and swing, while a virtual bowler appears on screen. Each delivery is recorded, allowing players to review their technique and performance through the HiTZ app.
Second West Midlands Venue
The Dudley facility is the company's second West Midlands location, following the opening of its Birmingham venue in January, which has attracted nearly 1,000 players. James Ward, head of operations at HiTZ, said: "It's been brilliant to open our doors in the Black Country and see so many local cricketers stepping into the lane for the first time."
Ward added: "The West Midlands has such a strong cricket community, and after the response we've received in Birmingham, we knew there was real demand here."
Opening Hours and Competitions
The facility is open from 6am until midnight, seven days a week, and caters for players aged 10 and over. Sessions can be booked online, with visitors accessing the training lane using a digital code.
Players can also enter HiTZ Compete, a national team contest launching on Monday, November 9. Teams of up to five will compete in weekly challenges, with the top eight progressing to national finals in 2027. Discounted walk-in sessions are available until November 15, while membership offers run until November 30. Further information and bookings are available through the HiTZ Cricket website.
