One of the most scenic endurance events is set to return this summer as the Cotswold Way Ultra Challenge brings more than 1,500 participants into the region for a weekend of walking, jogging and running. The challenge takes place along the Cotswold Way National Trail on June 13 and June 14, offering distances of 10km, 25km, 50km and 100km. The route winds through rolling countryside, historic villages and some of the Cotswolds' most recognisable scenery.
Event Details and Support
Starting and finishing at a Cirencester basecamp, participants will be fully supported throughout the route. The event provides marked trails, regular rest stops, hot food, drink stations and an experienced welfare team on hand. Optional accommodation is also available, including camping and stays at the Royal Agricultural University.
Scenic Route
The course showcases sweeping escarpment views, ancient woodland and traditional honey-stone villages, offering a unique way to experience the landscape while taking on a major endurance challenge. The event is open to all abilities, with individuals and teams able to walk, run or combine both across the course.
Charity and Community Impact
Many participants use the challenge to raise funds for charity, with last year's event generating £600,000. Organisers Ultra Challenge expect strong participation once again, with local businesses also set to benefit from increased visitor numbers across the weekend. Local residents are being encouraged to turn out along the pavements to cheer on the passing challengers.
How to Join
Anyone interested in joining the event can find out more details and sign up on the official Ultra Challenge website.
