The 16th annual Pilgrims Hospices Cycle Challenge took place recently in East Kent, drawing cyclists of all abilities to support local hospice care. This beloved community event offered five scenic routes: The Circuit (30 miles), The Classic (50 miles), The Challenge (75 miles), The Century (100 miles), and The Epic (125 miles). Each route highlighted the beautiful Kent countryside, catering to everyone from beginners to experienced cyclists.
The day started under overcast skies, but participants remained enthusiastic as they set off. As the morning progressed, the weather improved, creating ideal cycling conditions. Along the routes, rest stops provided refreshments, encouragement, and a chance for riders to recharge.
Behind the scenes, a dedicated team of volunteers worked tirelessly before and during the event. They marked routes, prepared rest stops, organized snacks, and cheered riders on. Their efforts were crucial to the event's success. Pilgrims Hospices expressed gratitude to local organizations, communities, and volunteers for their generous support. Special thanks also went to event sponsors: University of Kent Sport, Barretts, and Biketart.
Thanks to 770 riders, the event has already raised £90,000 and counting, with individual sponsorship still coming in. All funds support Pilgrims Hospices in providing compassionate end-of-life care across East Kent.
