A fitness community in Bacup, Rawtenstall and Haslingden has raised an incredible £2,500 for charity by taking on a messy obstacle course. Members and friends of Wylie’s Fitness Gym participated in the Race for Life Pretty Muddy 5K last weekend, supporting Cancer Research UK.
The team completed the event at Avenham Park in Preston despite challenging muddy conditions. The gym is owned by Scott Wylie, who also plays football for Rossendale FC.
The fundraising effort unfolded over several weeks, with gym members and supporters rallying together to make a difference. This event is part of the gym’s growing commitment to giving back through annual charity initiatives. Last year, the gym raised over £4,000 to fund local defibrillators. This year’s support for Cancer Research UK continues that tradition of helping worthwhile causes.
The team at Wylie’s Fitness Gym expressed pride in everyone involved and hopes to keep charity events as an annual part of their culture. Owner Scott Wylie said: “We’re incredibly proud of everyone who took part and donated. It’s amazing to see our community come together, not only to challenge themselves physically, but to raise money for causes that mean so much to so many people.”
