Marvin Ducksch returns to Birmingham City training as injury boost emerges
Marvin Ducksch returns to Blues training ahead of Bristol City clash

Marvin Ducksch has returned to Birmingham City training after missing the entirety of pre-season with injury, manager Chris Davies has confirmed. The 32-year-old striker was sidelined after suffering a setback during the club's training camp in Portugal in early July and has only recently resumed training on the grass.

Ducksch's return to fitness

Ducksch has missed Birmingham City's opening two games of the season and is not expected to be involved against Bristol City on Saturday. However, his return to training marks a significant step forward for the forward, who has been building up his fitness under the guidance of the coaching staff.

"Marvin has trained this week and is looking better than he has been, he's definitely fit and building up his training," said Davies.

Transfer window implications

Ducksch had been expected to depart Birmingham City this summer, but the clock is ticking with only 10 days of the transfer window remaining. His return to fitness could influence matters on that front, as if a move does not materialise, Blues have another option in attack.

The striker's recovery provides Davies with additional depth in the attacking department, which could prove crucial as the season progresses.

Team news and injury update

Elsewhere, Davies reported no fresh injury concerns since Birmingham City's opening day draw with Sheffield United at Bramall Lane. The only other confirmed absentees are Taylor Gardner-Hickman and Marc Leonard.

"Everyone is good. There's no major changes in terms of the squad, we've had a decent training week. Any bumps and bruises from the game seem to have settled down so we're in the same position," Davies added.

Birmingham City face Bristol City in their first home game of the season on Saturday, with Ducksch unlikely to feature but continuing his recovery.
