Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers has made a personal pledge to force his way into the England national team setup after admitting his disappointment at missing out on the 2026 World Cup squad.
Rogers Opens Up on World Cup Omission
The 22-year-old attacker was a notable absentee from Gareth Southgate's final 23-man roster for the tournament in North America, despite enjoying a breakthrough campaign at club level. Rogers acknowledged the setback but insisted it has only strengthened his resolve.
"It was tough to watch the lads go out there," Rogers told BirminghamWorld. "Every player dreams of representing their country at a World Cup, and not being part of it hurt. But I'm using that pain as fuel."
Aiming for England Recall
Rogers, who has represented England at youth levels, is now focused on consistent performances for Aston Villa to catch the eye of the national team selectors. He believes his versatility across the frontline can be an asset.
"I know what I need to do: keep playing well, scoring goals, and creating chances for my teammates. If I do that, the rest will take care of itself. I'm determined to be in the next squad."
Club Form Key to International Ambitions
The former Manchester City academy graduate has impressed under Unai Emery this season, featuring regularly in both Premier League and European competitions. His pace, dribbling, and directness have made him a fan favourite at Villa Park.
Rogers added: "The manager has given me a lot of confidence. I'm learning every day from him and the senior players. I want to repay that faith by helping the club achieve great things and, hopefully, earning that England call-up."
With the European Championships on the horizon, Rogers will be eager to stake his claim for a place in Southgate's plans. His vow to bounce back stronger will be music to the ears of Villa supporters and England fans alike.
