Loud boos echoed around Molineux after Wolves were held to a 1-1 draw by ten-man Sunderland, prompting defender Yerson Mosquera to send a message to the club's supporters amid growing unrest.
The home side fell behind early on Saturday but were handed a lifeline when Sunderland's Dan Ballard was sent off for pulling Tolu Arokodare's hair. Wolves equalised in the second half through Santi Bueno's header, but despite having chances to go ahead, fans grew increasingly frustrated. Substitutions were booed, and after Wolves failed to find a winner, supporters made their anger known to the players and manager Rob Edwards at full time.
Mosquera, who returned to the side following suspension, acknowledged the fans' frustration but urged them to keep believing for the remainder of the season. He said: "I just want to say thank you for everything because they come with us everywhere. They support us and, of course, they are very frustrated, but we're going to try our best, be our best self for them, and the result is not with us, but they need to believe in us."
He added: "These are the next steps, the next season we want to try to push up again, but for now thank you, everyone."
Wolves struggled to break down the ten men of Sunderland, creating only half chances later in the game. Reflecting on the match, Mosquera said: "It's really difficult, because when they have 10 players, it's more difficult. They try to stay close. We need to create a little bit more chance outside. When we want to pass the ball inside and have two or three players close, it's really difficult. I know we have a lot of quality, but when you try to find them it's really hard."
