Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has broken his silence on the prospect of moving into international management, making it clear that he has no intention of leaving the club for a national team role at this stage of his career.
The Villa boss, who recently led his side to Europa League glory in Istanbul, has attracted widespread admiration for his tactical acumen. However, he insists that his focus remains firmly on Aston Villa and the upcoming Champions League campaign.
Emery's Comments at Marca Sports Awards
Speaking at the Marca Sports Awards in Madrid, Emery addressed the speculation: "All the steps I have taken as a coach are in places that want me to be there. I live very much with the intensity of day-to-day, week-to-week, month-to-month, but possibly one day it might also appeal to me to be a national team manager. Up until now, I have not had that feeling of being close."
He added: "My objectives are to be in Europe at the highest level. We are going to play Champions League; we have already won the Europa League. The Premier League brand and the Aston Villa brand being at the highest level of Europe is very important. We want to be capable of continuing to break barriers in Europe."
Villa's European Ambitions
Emery highlighted the club's progress, noting that two years ago they played a Champions League quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain. He is determined to build on that success and compete with the best teams on the continent.
For Villa fans, there is no cause for concern. Emery's commitment to the club is clear, and he is fully focused on the challenges ahead, including the Premier League and European competitions.
