Wolves' Sa faces late fitness test ahead of Spurs

Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa will undergo a late fitness test ahead of the Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur at Molineux on Saturday. The Portuguese shot-stopper sustained a shoulder injury that forced him to miss the previous match against Leeds United, despite initially starting the warm-up.

Dan Bentley replaced Sa in the Leeds game, while Sam Johnstone has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a separate shoulder injury. Sa has since returned to training and is hopeful of being available for the Spurs fixture, but the club will make a final decision on his fitness.

Edwards provides update

Wolves head coach Rob Edwards confirmed that Sa trained on Friday and will be given as much time as possible to prove his fitness. "He trained today, so we'll give him as much time as possible," Edwards said. "But he felt comfortable today, so that's pleasing."

Defender Ladislav Krejci is a major doubt for the match due to a neck problem. The Czech international felt discomfort before the Leeds game, and the issue worsened after a collision. Edwards provided an update: "It's his neck. It was a bit sore (before Leeds) and when he got pushed it made it even worse. He's been able to do some individual work, some straight line stuff, but it's still very sore in his neck area. I can't put a timeframe on it, but we want to get him back as quickly as we can."

However, Edwards received a boost with the return of defender Matt Doherty, who has trained all week and is available for selection. "Doc has trained all week, so he's available, but Krejci will be struggling," Edwards added.

Gomes likely to be fit

Midfielder Angel Gomes was substituted in the first half against Leeds with a foot issue, but he has responded well to treatment. Edwards said: "He's trained the last two days. He didn't train fully yesterday, but trained most of the session and today trained the full session, so he should be fine."

Wolves will be looking to build on their recent form when they host Tottenham, with the match promising to be a crucial encounter for both sides.
