Emile Heskey Advises Morgan Rogers to Stay at Aston Villa Amid Transfer Talk
Heskey Warns Rogers Against Rushing Villa Exit This Summer

Emile Heskey Issues Transfer Warning to Aston Villa Star Morgan Rogers

Former Aston Villa striker Emile Heskey has cautioned Morgan Rogers against making a hasty exit from the club this summer, despite anticipated transfer interest. Rogers, who joined Villa from Middlesbrough in January 2024 for an initial £8 million, has rapidly become a pivotal figure under manager Unai Emery.

Rogers' Impressive Impact at Villa Park

Since his arrival, the 23-year-old forward has made 109 appearances for Aston Villa, netting 27 goals and providing 24 assists. His consistent performances have not only solidified his role at the club but also earned him recognition on the international stage, with expectations high for his inclusion in the England squad for the upcoming World Cup.

Rogers is under contract with Villa until 2031, following a new deal signed in November, yet speculation persists about potential moves in the upcoming transfer window.

Heskey's Advice on Career Progression

In an interview with OLBG, Heskey emphasized the importance of careful consideration for Rogers' next steps. "He needs to really think about his own progression as well and not take that jump too quickly," Heskey stated. "I think Morgan Rogers is brilliant. For me, personally, I think he's ahead of a lot of the number 10s that are in the England national team."

Heskey praised Rogers' consistency this season, highlighting his standout contributions. "He sits above them because of what he's done this season and he’s done it consistently. I think he's been fantastic. But he needs to really think about his next move very carefully."

The Case for Staying at Villa

Heskey pointed to Aston Villa's current success as a key reason for Rogers to remain. "Do you stay at Villa, who are actually on the ascendancy and doing really well with a manager who's fantastic?" he questioned. "As long as they can stay in and around that Champions League, they've got a massive chance of keeping players like that."

He also warned about the pressures that come with transfer attention, noting, "But having that attention from others, sometimes that can weigh down on you as well." This advice underscores the potential risks of a premature move, suggesting that stability at Villa could better serve Rogers' long-term development and career goals.
