McGinn Defends Keane's 'Pub Player' Comments

Aston Villa captain John McGinn has surprised fans by defending Roy Keane's controversial comments about him. The Manchester United legend had described McGinn as sometimes looking like a "pub player" on The Overlap podcast.

Keane's Remarks

Keane acknowledged McGinn's importance to Villa's success but said: "When he's bad, when he has his bad days, he does look like a pub player. When he's off it, he's shocking."

McGinn's Response

Speaking to ITV, McGinn said: "I didn't think what he said was that bad! He followed it up with something complimentary. He was right. I actually think the amount of games that I'm looking at a pub player is becoming less and less as I get older."

McGinn added that he tries to be more consistent and was pleased to be talked about. The midfielder recently helped Villa win the Europa League and qualify for the Champions League.

World Cup Success

McGinn also scored for Scotland in their first World Cup win in 36 years against Haiti. He said the team has nothing to fear against Morocco and Brazil, emphasising belief and the unpredictable nature of the tournament.
