Halton secured the Merseyside and District League Championship title with a standout performance at the Wavertree final. Sophie Barr led the charge by winning the 50m and 100m Freestyle events, along with the 50m Backstroke. Eloise Edwards and Josh Howard-Hughes both won their individual races, while Elinor Moore and Anthony Wawrzyniak claimed victories in the 50m Breaststroke. Bella-Mai Fishwick touched first in the 50m Backstroke.
Relay Success Secures Title
Impressive relay displays were key to Halton's victory. In the boys' events, Elliot Noone, Petru Moldovan, Edward Marsh, and Dylan Taylor secured first place in both the Medley and Freestyle relays. For the girls, Winter Kaye, Harriet Hyland, Meg McAllister, and Elinor Moore finished first in the Freestyle relay. Halton's overall performance earned them the top prize, finishing just one point ahead of runners-up Crosby, who withstood a strong challenge from Garston. Prescot, featuring veteran Tony Wylie, finished fifth, holding off a spirited St Helens team.
Bridgefield Takes B Division Title
Bridgefield claimed the 'B' Division Championship after their fourth consecutive win. At the Wigan Best Summer Meet, individual competitions saw strong performances. Crosby's Oliver Schorah achieved four personal bests, earning him four gold medals. Macey Powell set a personal best in the 100m Backstroke for gold and added gold in the 50m Freestyle with another PB, plus silver in the 100m Individual Medley.
Personal Bests Highlight Individual Events
Riley Powell earned gold in the 200m Backstroke and silver in the 400m Freestyle, with two of his four personal bests. Edie Leung took gold in the 200m Butterfly and silver in the 200m Butterfly. Luca Whelan picked up two bronze medals, while Max Roberts claimed bronze in the 400m Freestyle. Rose Terry led St Helens with three personal bests, securing one gold and two silver medals. Oliver Crosby achieved four personal bests, including a silver in the 200m Backstroke. Daisy Chisnall won gold in the 100m Backstroke and posted personal bests in the 50m Breaststroke, 100m Individual Medley, and 200m Freestyle. Max Wiletts set three personal bests, highlighted by a bronze in the 200m Breaststroke.
Super Sunday for Sasha McNabb
Bootle and North Liverpool's Sasha McNabb had a standout "Super Sunday," with three personal bests producing golds in the 50m Breaststroke, 400m Individual Medley, and 400m Freestyle, plus a bronze in the 200m Freestyle. Ciara Garlock of Formby stood out with six personal bests, earning a silver and a bronze, while Jasmine Callaghan recorded her fastest times in the 200m Freestyle and 100m Individual Medley.
