Ryanair's Longest Birmingham Route: Cyprus to Paphos

Ryanair has introduced its longest route from Birmingham Airport, offering flights to the sun-drenched Mediterranean island of Cyprus. The budget airline now operates services to Paphos International Airport, covering a distance of approximately 2,087 miles. Despite being the longest Ryanair route from Birmingham, the flight time remains relatively short at around 4 hours and 45 minutes.

Cyprus Outshines Canary Islands in Distance

This new route surpasses Ryanair's existing long-haul flights to the Canary Islands from Birmingham, such as Tenerife, which sits at roughly 1,860 miles. Cyprus boasts a mild climate, with temperatures rarely falling below 10°C in the coldest months, making its beaches enjoyable nearly all year round.

Birmingham Airport describes Cyprus as "the ideal holiday destination, whether you're looking for a long summer holiday or a city break." The destination offers a variety of water sports, hiking, museums, and boat trips to keep visitors occupied.

Paphos: A UNESCO World Heritage Site

Paphos itself is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its immense wealth of ancient ruins, including the Site of Nia and the Site of the Tombs of the Kings. This makes it a perfect destination ahead of Christopher Nolan's upcoming film The Odyssey, due in cinemas in two weeks, as Paphos boasts a rich mythological history.

Visitors can see Petra tou Romiou, also known as Aphrodite's Rock, along with a charming harbour overlooked by a Byzantine castle.

Beautiful Beaches Along the Coast

Stretching along the coast are a series of gorgeous beaches, including the popular Vrisoudia II Beach, which provides a lively resort atmosphere with excellent facilities. St. George Beach, located slightly further up the coast in Chlorakas, is centred around a small, protected bay. Alykes Beach is heavily integrated with the local hotel strip and bustling waterfront promenade, while White River Beach offers a raw, untouched slice of Cypriot nature.

According to Birmingham Airport, "Paphos International Airport is situated around 14km away from Paphos town and is usually the chosen airport for many other holiday destinations in Cyprus. If you're on a package holiday, then your transfer will be waiting for you after you collect your luggage - just find your tour operator and they'll send you in the right direction."
