New research has revealed the most annoying habits faced by UK tourists on board planes, with one behaviour potentially leading to a fine of £53. The study, conducted by travel insurance firm Tiger.co.uk, polled 1,000 British tourists to identify the most infuriating etiquette violations while flying.
Reclining Seats Top the List
The most annoying behaviour, according to 14 per cent of respondents, is reclining seats. This habit reduces legroom for the passenger behind and is particularly irritating on short-haul flights where space is already limited.
Standing Before Seatbelt Sign Off
The second most frustrating habit is standing up before the seatbelt sign is switched off. Not only does this annoy fellow travellers, but it could also result in a penalty. Last year, the Turkish civil aviation authority announced that passengers who rise while the aircraft is still moving could face fines of £53. This conduct can also be dangerous, as abrupt movements during landing or unexpected braking could cause injuries.
Other annoying habits mentioned in the survey include loud talking, kicking the seat in front, and hogging the armrest. The findings highlight the importance of considerate behaviour to ensure a pleasant journey for all passengers.
