A 26-year-old man from Erdington has been charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis after a car crashed into a roundabout in Birmingham. The collision happened at Maypole Island on the A435 Alcester Road South, near the junction of Druids Lane, at around 7.50am on September 5.
West Midlands Police confirmed that the road was blocked following the incident, and the number 50 bus service was diverted away from the area. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported.
Charges and court appearance
Nathan Morrison, 26, of Kingsbury Road, Erdington, has been charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis in connection with the crash. He is due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court next month.

Police statement and road closure
The spokesperson added: "This comes after we were called to Alcester Road South near the junction of Druids Lane at around 7.50am yesterday morning after a car hit a roundabout. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured."
West Midlands Roads alerted drivers to the closure on X, writing: "A435 Alcester Road South, northbound after Maypole Island. Maypole Road closed. Police road closure towards Birmingham only."
Bus diversions in place
A spokesperson for National Express West Midlands confirmed the impact on public transport, stating: "Service 50 towards Birmingham only via Maypole Lane, Highters Heath Lane and Glenavon Road."
The road closure and bus diversions remained in place while police dealt with the aftermath of the collision. Morrison's court appearance is scheduled for next month at Birmingham Magistrates' Court.
