British Airways Scraps Best Price Guarantee Scheme, Leaving Passengers Bewildered
BA Ends Best Price Guarantee, Passengers Bewildered

British Airways passengers have been left 'bewildered' after the airline scrapped its Best Price Guarantee scheme without warning. The policy, which previously promised to match lower fares found elsewhere, has been abruptly discontinued, leaving customers frustrated.

What Was the Best Price Guarantee?

Under the scheme, passengers who booked directly through ba.com could claim a voucher for the difference if they found the same flight cheaper on another airline on the same day. However, BA has now ended the promotion, and the website page for claims now shows a 'Page not found' error. Customers who attempt to fill out the form are told their claim cannot be honoured.

Official Statement from BA

A British Airways spokesperson confirmed the end of the promotion, stating: 'Thanks for getting in touch about the British Airways Best Price Guarantee. Unfortunately, our Best Price Guarantee proposition has now ended. We know this decision may come as a disappointment, however, we’re unable to accept any new claims.'

Eligibility Criteria That No Longer Apply

Previously, passengers could claim if they booked and paid for a BA flight and later found a lower fare with another airline. However, claims were not valid in certain scenarios, such as if BA could not verify the lower price (e.g., lack of screenshot), if the cheaper fare was part of a sale or price drop on ba.com, from a price comparison site, due to a mistake, or if the booking was part of a package holiday or had been cancelled or refunded.

Countries Previously Covered

The guarantee was available for flights departing from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, the UK, and the US.

British Airways has not indicated any plans to reintroduce the scheme, leaving passengers to seek alternative ways to secure the best fares.
