Train passengers face continued disruption in the Stourbridge area on Sunday, August 16, after a large fire spread to railway embankments. The blaze, which broke out on Thursday, August 13, completely destroyed 19 homes and left 54 people injured, according to Network Rail and West Midlands Railway.
Workers spent the day inspecting damage to signalling, telecoms, and the embankments along the Snow Hill railway line. Despite their efforts, services are still unable to run on some Snow Hill routes.
Reduced Services and Rail Replacement Buses
West Midlands Railway is operating a reduced service on the Snow Hill Lines. Rail replacement buses will run between Stourbridge and Kidderminster. Birmingham to Kidderminster services will operate only between Birmingham and Stourbridge. Worcester to Hereford services will run as scheduled, while Birmingham to Worcester services are subject to alteration, so passengers are advised to check before travelling.
On Sunday, August 16, an hourly bus service will depart from Stourbridge from 10:00 until 21:00, with two additional buses at 22:20 and 23:30. From Kidderminster, an hourly bus service will run from 09:50 until 18:50, with an additional bus at 09:20.
