Fatal Single-Vehicle Collision on A46 Southbound

Two people lost their lives in a serious road traffic collision on the A46 near Coventry in the early hours of Wednesday, July 1. Warwickshire Police confirmed that a man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s died at the scene after the red Seat car they were traveling in left the carriageway.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:31am on the southbound stretch of the A46 near Stoneleigh. Emergency services were called to the scene, but despite their efforts, both occupants were pronounced dead.

Road Closure and Investigation Underway

The southbound carriageway was closed for around eight hours following the crash to allow for investigation and recovery operations. Motorists faced significant delays as traffic was diverted away from the area.

Warwickshire Police have launched an appeal for information, particularly urging anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward. A spokesperson said: "At 6:31am on July 1, we were called to a report of a road traffic collision on the A46 southbound near Stoneleigh. For unknown reasons, the driver of a red Seat car left the road. A man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s sadly died at the scene."

Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage

Authorities are keen to establish the circumstances leading up to the crash. The police spokesperson added: "If anyone saw what took place or has CCTV or dashcam footage from around this time and place, please contact us on 101 or through our web reporting tool citing Incident 52 of July 1."
