Cornwall Council has issued a series of temporary traffic orders for west Cornwall, with multiple roads set to close to allow for essential utility upgrades and highway repairs. The legally required notices have been published in The Cornishman newspaper and on the official Public Notice Portal.
Schedule of Disruptions: Key Dates and Locations
The works will affect several communities across the region from late January into early February 2026. Signed diversion routes will be operational for each closure, and the council has confirmed that access to properties will be maintained in almost all instances.
The detailed schedule is as follows:
- Angarrack Lane, Connor Downs: Closed for poling works on January 19, 2026, between 9:30am and 3:30pm (weekdays only). The affected section runs between the Gwinear Road junction and grid reference SW6025039224.
- Trenwith Lane, St Ives: Closed for water connection works from January 21 to January 23, 2026, 24 hours a day, between the property known as Wetherby and Belyars Lane.
- Trenerth Road, Leedstown: Closed for poling works on January 22, 2026, between 9:30am and 3:30pm (weekdays only), between grid references SW6028935166 and SW6034734755.
- Quarry Hill, Gulval: Closed for poling works on February 2, 2026 for one day between 9:30am and 3:30pm (weekdays only), for its entire length.
- Fore Street, St Ives: Closed for defect repair works from February 3 to February 5, 2026, 24 hours a day on weekdays only, for its entire length. Pedestrian access to properties will be maintained, but vehicle access will be restricted.
- Road between Badgers Cross and Chysauster Road, Gulval: Closed for poling works on February 3, 2026 for one day between 9:30am and 3:30pm (weekdays only).
- Castle Road and The Square, Ludgvan: Closed for fibre connection works from February 4 to February 6, 2026, 24 hours a day including weekends. Castle Road is affected between The Square and Bowglas Close, while The Square is closed for its entire length.
Access, Diversions and Who to Contact
For all schemes, an alternative route will be clearly signed on site. Motorists are strongly advised to follow the local diversion signage and to allow extra time for their journeys during these periods.
