EasyJet launches £22 Birmingham to Agadir winter sun flights

EasyJet is set to launch a new route from Birmingham Airport to Agadir in Morocco, a destination known for its winter sunshine, affordable living costs, and extensive beaches. The service begins on 27 October and will operate twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, with fares starting from £21.99 each way.

The route was first announced in April, alongside package holiday options. Kevin Doyle, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, said at the time: “We are delighted to announce a new service from Birmingham to Agadir, providing our customers in the Midlands with another connection to Morocco at great value fares. Our continued success in the Midlands is a clear testament to the continued popularity of our flights and holidays and the growth of our fleet with an additional aircraft in Birmingham this summer will further unlock the opportunity of the demand that we see for both leisure and business travel.”

Affordability and cost of living

Agadir has been highlighted for its low prices. The Telegraph ranked it third among 15 affordable winter sun destinations in 2024. According to Holiday Hypermarket, a three-course meal in the tourist-focused centre costs around £10 a head, compared with approximately £16.50 in Marrakech. A domestic beer costs about £2.30 in Agadir, versus £3.65 in cities like Marrakech, and bottled water starts at roughly 30p. Edreams reports that a coffee averages about £1.36 and a basic meal about £3.16.

In 2022, Savoo ranked Agadir the cheapest destination for an all-inclusive summer holiday, at £490 per person for six nights, ahead of the Costa Brava at £546. While prices have risen since then, TravelSupermarket currently advertises Agadir holidays for less than £250 per person, with the cheapest deals available in the shoulder seasons. Accommodation becomes cheaper further from the beach, which is a factor to consider when booking.

One travel budget site claims that the cost of living for a stay in Agadir in 2026 is on average 47% below that of the United States.

Beaches and weather

HolidayCheck, the German travel portal, named Agadir among the ten best destinations for sun and swimming in September, citing its dry climate, wide beaches, and warm sea. Even in November, as Christmas approaches, temperatures in Agadir regularly reach 25C, warm enough for beach activities.

The bays of Agadir were admitted into the 'Club of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World' in 2002, with an official trophy handed to Souss-Massa-Draâ Regional Council. The most well-known beach is Agadir Bay, which stretches for 10 kilometres in a golden-sand crescent. Its layout shelters it from harsh ocean winds, running from the modern marina in the north to the southern sector. A palm-lined promenade is packed with cafés, restaurants, and resort hotels.

Surfing and local amenities

Surfers often visit Agadir during the colder months, as winter is ideal for catching world-class waves. After a day in the surf, visitors can warm up in heated pools and traditional hammams in town.

The new easyJet service from Birmingham provides an additional connection to Morocco, expanding options for leisure and business travellers from the Midlands. The twice-weekly schedule offers a practical link for those seeking winter sun or a cultural getaway.
