Stellantis has recalled 1,834 Jeep vehicles in the United Kingdom due to an electrical fault that could cause a fire, even when the vehicle is parked. The recall is part of a global recall of 1.3 million Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator models manufactured between 2021 and 2025.
Fire Risk Details
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) warned that the electric hydraulic power-steering pump wiring may overheat and cause a vehicle fire. Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until repairs are completed.
Affected Models
The recall affects Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator vehicles from model years 2021 to 2025. In the US, the recall involves 787,887 Wrangler and 289,112 Gladiator vehicles.
Stellantis Statement
A Stellantis spokesperson confirmed the recall, stating that an internal investigation found an electrical connection issue in the power steering pump wiring. In rare circumstances, this may cause combustible materials to overheat, potentially leading to a vehicle fire. The company advises owners to park away from structures or other vehicles until the remedy is obtained.
Repair Information
Dealers will inspect and replace affected parts at no cost. It is estimated that only 0.1% of potentially involved vehicles have the defect.
