Road Closure Details and Duration
Snow Hill Queensway will be closed between St Chad's Queensway and Colmore Circus Queensway to facilitate the crane lift. The closure is in effect today, April 4, 2026, and will continue through tomorrow, April 5, 2026. A spokesperson for West Midlands Roads stated, “Snow Hill Queensway is closed between St Chad's Queensway and Colmore Circus Queensway for a crane lift. This closure will remain in place today and tomorrow.”
Extensive Bus Service Diversions Announced
Bus travel through Birmingham city centre has been heavily impacted by the road closure. Transport for West Midlands has confirmed that multiple National Express West Midlands and Diamond bus services will face diversions. The affected services include:
- National Express West Midlands routes: 7, 9, 12, 13, 16, 52, 74, 101, 126, X8, and X10
- Diamond route: 16A
Specific diversion routes have been implemented to minimise delays:
- Services 7 and 52 are being diverted via Colmore Row, Colmore Circus, Weaman Street, Whittall Street, and St Chad's Queensway before resuming their normal routes.
- Services 9, 12, 13, 101, 126, X8, and X10 towards Birmingham are taking alternative paths via Great Charles Street Queensway, Livery Street, and Colmore Row.
- Services 16, 16A, and 74 are being rerouted via Old Snow Hill, Great Charles Street, Livery Street, Colmore Road, and Colmore Circus Queensway, with a stop at SQ8 before returning to their standard lines.
