A major road in Birmingham has been closed in both directions following a crash during rush hour this morning. Emergency crews have shut the A4040 Vicarage Road in Stirchley after an incident between Hazelwell Fordrough and Kings Road. Priory Road has also been closed.

Traffic data monitor Inrix reported: 'A4040 Vicarage Road in both directions closed, slow traffic due to accident from Hazelwell Fordrough to Kings Road. Priory Road is also closed.' West Midlands Roads posted on X: 'A4040 Vicarage Road. Congestion due to a traffic collision. Plan Ahead: Allow extra time for your journey and consider alternative routes where possible.'
