Two main roads in Dudley are set to close overnight for essential carriageway resurfacing works. Queens Cross and High Street will be shut to traffic from September 21 to October 2, with the closures in place each night between 7pm and 3am.
Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council has confirmed that the closures are necessary to allow the resurfacing of the carriageway. The order will remain in force until October 2, or until the works are completed, whichever is earlier, according to the council.
Diversion routes and access arrangements
Drivers are being advised to plan their journeys in advance, as diversions will be set up via Wellington Road and Stafford Street, or via Vicar Street, Shaw Road, Blowers Green Road, Cinder Bank Island, Blowers Green Road, and Aston Road. These routes will be clearly signed during the works.
The council has stated that access to frontages and for emergency vehicles will be maintained where safe to do so. This means that local residents and businesses will still be able to reach their properties, and emergency services will be able to respond to incidents in the area.
