A major crash on the M40 motorway in the Midlands has resulted in significant tailbacks and lengthy delays for motorists. The incident occurred on the southbound carriageway between Junction 16 for Hockley Heath and Junction 15 for Warwick.
Crash Details
The collision, involving two cars, took place just after 8:15 am on Wednesday, June 17. As a result, two of the three lanes on the M40 southbound have been closed, leading to severe congestion.
Delays and Tailbacks
Motorists are facing delays of up to an hour and a half, with queues stretching for six miles. National Highways has confirmed that vehicle recovery is being arranged.
In a post on X, National Highways stated: "Lanes 1 & 2 (of 3) are closed on the M40 in #Warwickshire southbound between J16 Hockley Heath & J15 Warwick due to a multi vehicle collision. Vehicle recovery is being arranged."

Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible and allow extra time for their journeys. Alternative routes may be considered, but local roads are also likely to be congested.
