A serious collision involving a car and an overturned van caused significant disruption on the M5 motorway in Worcestershire this morning. National Highways West Midlands confirmed that all four lanes were initially closed following the collision. This led to severe traffic congestion, with drivers facing delays of around 60 minutes. At one point, traffic queues stretched back for more than five miles from the incident scene.
In an update posted on social media platform X, National Highways: West Midlands reported that three of the four lanes remained closed due to the overturned van. They advised motorists that there was approximately three miles of congestion on the approach to the incident, causing delays of 40 minutes above usual journey times.
