M6 Closed Near Stafford After Crash, Air Ambulance Called

The M6 northbound has been closed near Stafford following a serious crash this morning (Thursday, April 1), with an air ambulance called to the scene.

Motorway Shutdown

The motorway is closed from Junction 14 for Stafford to Junction 15 for Stoke-on-Trent as emergency services work at the scene. The air ambulance was dispatched at around 9:40am.

Motorists have been warned of delays of approximately 40 minutes, with a diversion route in place.

Official Statement

A spokesperson for National Highways said: "The M6 in Staffordshire is closed northbound between J14 (Stafford) and J15 (Stoke on Trent) due to a collision. All emergency services including Staffordshire Police are in attendance. National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene assisting with traffic management. Air Ambulance have also arrived on scene. Traffic caught within the closure is in the process of being released."

Diversion Route

Northbound traffic is advised to follow the hollow triangle diversion symbol on road signs:

  • At M6 Junction 14, take the exit to A34 northbound.
  • Continue along A34 northbound to its junction with A500 at Hanford.
  • Take the exit to A500 westbound and continue to M6 junction 15.

National Highways added on X at 9:40am: "The #M6 in #Staffordshire northbound is closed between J14 #Stafford and J15 #Stoke due to a traffic collision. @WMPolice & @WestMidsFire are on scene dealing. There are currently no delays on the approach. Updates to follow."
