A major Birmingham route remains sealed off this morning after a pedestrian was left fighting for his life following a serious collision with a car.
Emergency Response at the Scene
The incident occurred at approximately 6.40am today, November 18, at the junction of Lawley Middleway and Garrison Circus in the Digbeth area. Emergency services, including two ambulances and the MERIT trauma team, were dispatched to the scene.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed that crews found a male pedestrian in a critical condition. "The team of medics worked together to administer advanced trauma care to the man to stabilise his condition before conveying him on blue lights to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further emergency care,” the spokesperson said.
Major Road Closure in Effect
In response to the serious collision, West Midlands Police have closed Lawley Middleway in both directions. The closure is in place near the Curzon Circus roundabout, and the road remains shut as of the time of publication.
Officers have established an extensive cordon and are carrying out enquiries at the scene as part of an ongoing investigation into the circumstances of the collision.

With the busy commuter route blocked, police are urging drivers to avoid the area entirely. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and seek alternative routes for their journeys this morning to avoid significant disruption.
