A man in his 50s sustained injuries after falling from a motorway bridge on the M42 in Solihull. Emergency services were dispatched to the location near junction four at Shirley, prompting a traffic halt shortly after 7pm on Saturday, May 9.

West Midlands Police confirmed that the man, aged in his 50s, was injured and subsequently transported to the hospital. A police spokeswoman stated: "We were called to reports of a man on a bridge over the M42 near Solihull at around 7.15pm. The man, in his 50s, was taken to hospital after falling from the bridge. He remains in a stable condition."
Traffic Disruption
National Highways West Midlands reported on X that the M42 southbound was closed between junction five at Solihull and junction four at Cheswick Green due to the police-led incident. Delays of up to 30 minutes were experienced, with three miles of congestion. The motorway later reopened, and no significant delays remained.
The man's current condition is stable, and authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fall.
