Emergency Services Rush to Serious Birmingham Collision
A man is fighting for his life in hospital after being struck by a car on a major Birmingham route this morning. The serious incident occurred on Lawley Middleway, between Digbeth and Bordesley Green, at approximately 6.40am on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
Critical Care at the Scene
Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene. A spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed they were called to the junction of Lawley Middleway and Garrison Circus following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a car.
The service sent two ambulances and the MERIT trauma team to the location. Upon arrival, they found a male pedestrian in a critical condition.
"The team of medics worked together to administer advanced trauma care to the man to stabilise his condition before conveying him on blue lights to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further emergency care," the ambulance service spokesperson said.
Major Road Closure and Travel Disruption
In the aftermath of the collision, Lawley Middleway was blocked in both directions between Garrison Circus and Curzon Circus. This caused significant disruption for morning commuters.
Authorities issued urgent advice to drivers. West Midlands Police advised motorists to find alternative routes while their officers carried out enquiries at the scene.
The official West Midlands Roads social media account also warned of a 'Police incident' on the northbound, anti-clockwise section of the ring road, noting significant congestion in the area and urging people to allow extra time for their journeys.
The investigation into the exact circumstances of the collision is ongoing.
