Police have issued an urgent appeal for witnesses after a man died following a collision with a lorry in Willenhall, Walsall. The pedestrian, believed to be in his 70s, sustained fatal injuries on Lichfield Road on Thursday, April 23.
Emergency services arrived at the scene shortly before 1:50pm, but despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the location. The driver of the lorry remained at the scene and is cooperating fully with the investigation, according to West Midlands Police.
A force spokesperson expressed condolences, stating: "We're appealing for information after a man has tragically died after being hit by a lorry in Walsall. It happened off Lichfield Road, Willenhall, at around 1:50pm yesterday. A man in his 70s sustained serious injuries and has sadly died. Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this devastating time."
The Serious Collision Investigation Unit is working to establish the exact circumstances of the incident. Officers are particularly keen to speak with anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the collision or have dash cam footage that could assist the investigation.
