Met Office Forecasts Cloudy, Cool Easter Weekend for London in 2026
Met Office Predicts Disappointing Easter Weather for London 2026

The Met Office has unveiled its weather forecast for the Easter 2026 bank holiday weekend, and it brings disappointing news for London and surrounding areas. Typically marking the start of warmer, sunnier spring weather, this year's long weekend is set to be cloudy, cold, and potentially wet, dampening plans for outdoor celebrations and garden activities.

What is the Easter Weekend Weather Forecast?

Easter weekend 2026, the UK's first long weekend of the year, usually sees people looking forward to family time, chocolate eggs, and a break from winter darkness. With clocks recently moving forward for brighter mornings and evenings, many hope to make the most of the extended holiday. However, the Met Office predicts rather unremarkable conditions, advising residents to prepare for less-than-ideal weather.

Good Friday - 3rd April

A day of cloud is forecast, with some small breakthroughs of sun predicted for the early morning. There is also a 40% chance of rain. Temperature-wise, you won't need heavy winter coats, as highs will reach 14 degrees Celsius.

Saturday - 4th April

This day mirrors Good Friday, with cloudy conditions and highs of 15 degrees. The Met Office stated: "A broad northwest to southeast split is most likely during this period. The northwest is likely to be more unsettled with low pressure systems moving in at times, bringing periods of strong winds and showers or longer spells of rain. In the southeast, high pressure will have greater influence, with more settled, drier weather as a result. Temperatures overall are likely to be near to or slightly above normal, but there remains the chance of some overnight frost."

Easter Sunday - 5th April

As the main event of the weekend, with most shops closed for Easter fun and egg hunts, the forecast remains consistent: cloudy, chances of drizzle, and highs of 13 degrees. This may force many to reconsider outdoor plans.

Easter Monday - 6th April

Currently considered long-range for predictions, the forecast could change, but Easter Monday appears more promising. Expect more breakthroughs of sunshine throughout the day, with highs of 13 degrees, offering a glimmer of hope for the end of the holiday.

For those planning garden transformations or outdoor activities, it might be best to postpone until clearer weather arrives. The Met Office's outlook suggests a subdued start to the spring season in 2026.
