Bystanders Rush to Aid Injured Pedestrian
Witnesses at the scene immediately performed CPR on the injured pedestrian before paramedics arrived. The quick actions of these bystanders provided crucial initial support as the man was found in a serious state.
West Midlands Ambulance Service dispatched multiple units to the location at 7:17 am, including three ambulances, a paramedic officer, and a MERIT trauma doctor accompanied by a critical care paramedic. Upon arrival, crews confirmed a collision between a van and a pedestrian.
The ambulance service spokesperson stated: "The pedestrian, a man, was found in a critical condition receiving CPR from bystanders. Paramedics immediately administered advanced life support before conveying him to Queen Elizabeth Hospital with the MERIT crew travelling on board to continue treatment en route."

West Midlands Police are investigating the circumstances of the collision. A police spokesperson confirmed: "We were called to Cranford Street shortly after 7 am today after a man was hit by a van near the junction with Alma Street.
