Ipsum Group Strengthens UK Infrastructure with Strategic North East and Midlands Acquisitions
Utilities engineering specialist Ipsum Group, headquartered in Chorley, Lancashire, has significantly expanded its national presence through two key acquisitions. The company has acquired Rosh Engineering, based in Gateshead, North East England, and Wilkinson Environmental, located in Warwickshire, Midlands. These strategic moves aim to bolster Ipsum's capabilities in high-voltage power engineering and drainage and sewerage services, respectively.
Enhancing Power Infrastructure with Rosh Engineering Acquisition
Rosh Engineering, founded in 1981 and based in Blaydon, Gateshead, specialises in power transformer and high-voltage services, operating across the power, water, infrastructure, and telecoms sectors. Andrew Cowan, Chief Executive of Ipsum Group, expressed his enthusiasm for the acquisition, stating, "I'm delighted to welcome the whole team at Rosh Engineering to Ipsum. Adding to our rapidly expanding business, they bring a depth of transformer and high voltage engineering expertise that is highly complementary alongside our existing capabilities." He emphasised that this move reinforces Ipsum's commitment to strengthening the UK's power infrastructure by providing specialist support for critical high-voltage assets.
Ian Dormer, Managing Director of Rosh Engineering, highlighted the benefits of joining Ipsum, noting, "For more than four decades, Rosh has been built on technical excellence and a commitment to delivering specialist transformer services to the highest standard. Joining Ipsum provides a strong platform for sustainable growth, broader project opportunities, and continued investment in our people and facilities."
Growing Water Division with Wilkinson Environmental Deal
In a parallel acquisition, Ipsum Group has completed a deal for Wilkinson Environmental, an Atherstone-based firm specialising in civil engineering, drainage, and sewer work. Mr. Cowan remarked, "The strong technical expertise, operational capability, and commitment to service excellence of the Wilkinson team make them a perfect fit for Ipsum. I am delighted to welcome them into the Ipsum family." This acquisition is expected to enhance Ipsum's presence in the Midlands and expand its civil engineering and infrastructure service offerings in regulated environments.
Mike Moss, Owner and Managing Director of Wilkinson Environmental, shared his perspective, saying, "We've worked closely with Ipsum in the past, and it's a huge complement to all of us here at Wilkinson to be held in such high esteem. I'm certain this move will be extremely beneficial for my colleagues in terms of job security, training and development opportunities, and investment in resources locally." He added that the company remains committed to maintaining its reputation for quality and reliability in service delivery.
National Expansion and Future Prospects
With these acquisitions, Ipsum Group now employs over 1,000 people across the United Kingdom, marking a significant milestone in its national expansion strategy. The company's focus on critical infrastructure sectors, such as power and water, aligns with broader efforts to support the UK's economic growth and resilience. These deals not only expand Ipsum's technical capabilities but also foster job security and development opportunities for employees in the acquired firms.
The strategic integration of Rosh Engineering and Wilkinson Environmental is poised to enhance Ipsum's service portfolio, enabling it to tackle complex projects in power and water infrastructure more effectively. As the UK continues to invest in its infrastructure, Ipsum Group's expanded footprint positions it as a key player in the engineering and utilities sectors, driving innovation and reliability in essential services.
