A Birmingham drug dealer has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison after police discovered 23 kilograms of cannabis during a raid on his home.
Details of the Raid
Nam Le, whose residence is on Lloyd Road in Handsworth, was arrested in October last year as part of a broader investigation. Officers from Operation Fearless searched his property and found 2 kilograms of drugs in a wardrobe, along with 8,000 pounds in cash in his bedroom and an additional 1,000 pounds in a car linked to him parked outside.
In a van associated with Le parked nearby, suitcases and bags containing a further 21 kilograms of cannabis were seized. The total estimated street value of the drugs was up to 140,000 pounds.
Guilty Plea and Sentencing
Le, aged 30, pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis with intent to supply and possession of criminal cash. At Birmingham Crown Court on Friday, May 15, he was sentenced to two years and nine months in jail.
Detective Inspector Tom Lyons, from Operation Fearless, stated: “This was a significant recovery of drugs, which we believe belonged to a wider organised crime group, and which would have gone on to be sold to fund further serious criminal activities.”
Operation Fearless
The investigation was conducted by Operation Fearless, a taskforce targeting organised crime, drug dealing, and exploitation in the Southside area. Earlier this month, the operation expanded to the Soho Road and Handsworth Triangle area, where it is focusing on drugs, knife crime, and serious organised crime linked to mini-mart style shops.
