Award-Winning Birmingham Cocktail Bar 'Passing Fancies' Announces Grand Return
A beloved Birmingham cocktail bar, celebrated as one of the best in Britain, is making a highly anticipated comeback in a new location. Passing Fancies, which closed its Digbeth branch last July, will reopen at The Goodsyard in the Jewellery Quarter, bringing its acclaimed mixology to a fresh setting.
New Venue and Exciting Features
The new venue is scheduled to open on Friday, April 24, much to the delight of fans who have missed its unique offerings since the closure at the Custard Factory. Owned by Eve Green and Matt Arnold, Passing Fancies will join other new businesses at The Goodsyard, including Common Interests nail salon, Sicilian restaurant Vieni, and Root 13 plant shop.
In a video posted on the Goodsyard Instagram account, Matt Arnold expressed his excitement, stating, "Birmingham's worst-kept secret is finally out!" He highlighted that the space has allowed them to build their dream bar, featuring:
- Downstairs area with beers, wines, and food
- Upstairs section for their renowned cocktail menu
- A secret space in the back described as a "bartenders playground"
Background and Community Impact
Since closing last year, mixologists from Passing Fancies have been active in guest spots at venues like 24 Storeys and St Paul's Market in the Jewellery Quarter. Matt Arnold, who was named the best bartender in the country after competing for Great Britain in the World Class competition in Brazil, shared that the response to the reopening has been overwhelming.
While the opening weekend is fully booked, walk-in spaces are available for those eager to celebrate the launch. The bar will be located at Goodsyard, 53 Pitsford Street, Jewellery Quarter, B18 6FG, marking a new chapter for this award-winning establishment in Birmingham's vibrant nightlife scene.
