EasyJet Warned Over £350 Pool Fee Ruining Holidays

EasyJet passengers have been warned about a £350 swimming pool fee that could ruin their holiday. A UK family wrote to a national newspaper, stating they booked the Jaal Riad Resort Hotel in Marrakech because of its pool and spa, but were shocked to find hidden charges upon arrival.

Hidden Fees at Marrakech Hotel

The family paid £2,150 for a week's all-inclusive break with EasyJet Holidays. They were told on arrival that using the heated pool cost £24 per person per hour, the Jacuzzi £24 for 20 minutes, and the hammam £16 for 20 minutes. These fees were not listed during booking.

EasyJet Holidays rejected their complaint, referring to a line at the bottom of the facilities list stating charges may apply. The family said: "We were planning on using the pool regularly but could not afford it. If we had known, we would have booked elsewhere."

Consumer Rights Under DMCC Act

Consumer lawyer Gary Rycroft highlighted that under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024, businesses must not omit material information influencing a consumer's decision. He said: "The facilities were prominently marketed as part of the holiday experience, and extra charges were not clearly disclosed before purchase."

EasyJet responded: "We always strive to make it clear that use of hotel facilities may incur additional charges."

EasyJet's Fleet Milestone

Separately, EasyJet took delivery of its 100th A320neo Family aircraft in Hamburg. David Morgan, Chief Operating Officer, said: "The arrival of our 100th A320neo Family aircraft is a significant milestone for easyJet. These aircraft are at the heart of our strategy to operate a more efficient fleet and reduce our environmental impact."

Johan Pelissier, President of Region Europe for Airbus, added: "The delivery of the 100th A320neo reflects the shared DNA of innovation between Airbus and EasyJet. We are actively redefining the future of sustainable aviation."
