Popeyes Birmingham Launches 'Mega Dips' in First UK Supersized Portions
Popeyes Birmingham Serves First UK 'Mega' Portions

The popular American fast-food chain Popeyes is bringing a taste of US-style supersized portions to the UK for the first time, with Birmingham residents among the first to get a try. The chain, which has multiple outlets across the city, has unveiled a new 'Mega Dips' range, marking its debut of an oversized product on British menus.

What Are The New Mega Dips?

Popeyes' new offering consists of its signature dipping sauces served in a colossal 450g pot, comparable in size to a large drinking cup. This move highlights the notable difference in portion sizes often seen between American and British fast-food outlets. The mega pots are designed for sharing with friends and family, though dedicated sauce enthusiasts might see it as a personal challenge.

Three flavours are currently available at branches across Britain: Mega Cheese, Mega Kickback, and Mega Ranch. Each mega tub is priced at £3.99. For those preferring a smaller serving, Popeyes continues to offer its standard 'Big' 160g dip for £1.99.

Popeyes' Growing Presence in Birmingham

This saucy announcement follows significant expansion and activity from the brand in the West Midlands. Popeyes carried out a major giveaway on November 25, handing out 100 free chicken sandwiches to the first 100 customers at one of its branches between 10am and 12pm.

The chain, which arrived in the UK in 2021, has been rapidly growing its footprint in Birmingham. The city's sixth branch opened at the beginning of August this year. Key locations include the Chicken Quarter on New Street, along with sites in Tyseley, Handsworth Wood, and the Fort Shopping Centre.

A Flavour of American Fast-Food Culture

Nationally, Popeyes has created 2,000 jobs since its UK launch and aims to employ 3,500 people by the end of 2025. The introduction of the Mega Dips represents a strategic move to incorporate a quintessentially American dining trend—larger-than-life portions—into the British market, offering customers a novel experience alongside its famed chicken sandwiches, fries, and sauces.
