Spaghetti House Shuts All Locations, Makes 101 Staff Redundant
Spaghetti House Shuts All Locations, 101 Staff Redundant

Spaghetti House, a major Italian restaurant chain, has confirmed the closure of all five of its locations, with all 101 staff members being made redundant. The family-run business, which claims to be the oldest Italian restaurant in London, entered administration on May 6, with BTG Begbies Traynor LLP appointed as administrators.

Statement from the Restaurant

The chain expressed its gratitude in a statement: "We are sorry all our restaurants are now closed. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to our loyal customers, partners, and team members, past and present, for your support over the years. From our family to yours, Grazie."

Locations Affected

The affected branches were located at Marble Arch, Carnaby Street, Oxford Street, Kensington High Street, and Cranbourn Street, all across London. Its original location on Goodge Street had already closed last year.

Reasons for Closure

Luigi Lavarini, executive chairman and chief executive of Lavval Restaurants, explained the decision: "After 70 years of serving our loyal customers, it is with a heavy heart that we announce Lavval Restaurants Limited has entered administration and will cease trading. Years of increasing costs from the pandemic, Brexit, Government budgets and global instability have created difficult market conditions for hospitality. Balancing these costs with reduced demand and spending from customers as they navigate the rising cost of living has proven too challenging. Despite best efforts and seeking professional advice, we have had to make this difficult but necessary decision to wind down our business."

The collapse of Spaghetti House adds to a growing list of hospitality closures in the UK, as businesses struggle with rising operational costs and changing consumer habits.
